The R&D division of Uptodate Plastics and Packagings Private Limited has recently launched special-purpose hot melt adhesives for the following applications:

Shoes and Shoe Components
Hot melt adhesives with potential for use in construction of sports shoes and helmets have been developed and are already in the market now. Adhesives have also been developed for providing temporary attachments of shoe components primarily in the construction of sports shoes. These adhesives can be sprayed or roller coated.

Bottle Labeling
A bottle labeling hot melt adhesive that is suitable for fixing of labels on PET bottles. This adhesive can be applied using automatic labeling machines that can label at a rate of 100-200 bottles per minute. The recommended application temperature is between 130C - 140C.

Carton Sealing
Carton sealing warm melt adhesives that can be applied at temperatures of 125C-135C and produce more powerful bonds than competitive products. These adhesives perform well in both hot and cold climates. They offer extreme thermal stability and lower densities which results in a longer pot life and more output per kg of adhesive. These adhesives show a very consistent and stable viscosity and adhere to a wide range of substrates. Due to their aggressive bonding characteristics, less adhesive can be used per application.

Heat Sealing Coating for Shrink Labels
In order to avoid the slipping of heat shrunk labels on round surfaces, a special water-dispersible heat sealing coating has been developed that can be applied on the inside surface of heat shrink labels using standard gravure machines.

• Produce more powerful bonds than competitive products. Perform well in both hot and cold climates
• Offer extreme thermal stability, so they have a longer pot life
• Show a very consistent and stable viscosity. Bead size and placement can be precisely controlled
• Formulated product have about 7% - 9% lower viscosities than conventional EVA based adhesives. Low density means more output per kg of adhesive
• Bonding characteristics are aggressive and therefore less adhesive can be used per application
• Adhere to a wide range of substrates
• Less frequent nozzle cleaning/filter replacement
